Important Customer Information:
In the recent past we received inquiries regarding the possible content of MOSH (mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons) and MOAH (mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons) in our products. The EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) considers that these substances are likely to be transferred to foodstuffs.
These hydrocarbons are generally collectively referred to as mineral oils. The mineral oil entry happens primarily via recycled paper.
Due to the importance of the topic, we expressly point out that we exclusively use papers made of fresh fibers.
Paraffins, for the coating of twist wrappers consist of open hydrocarbon chains and naphtenes (cyclic hydrocarbons).
MOSH with a chain length of C20-C35 are allowed up to max. 2 mg / kg in food. The transition from MOAH (C16-C35) must not exceed 0.5 mg / kg in food.
Our products are analyzed by an independently accredited test laboratory and comply with these legal requirements.
In order to avoid the problem completely, we use on customers’ request Nowax on a plant basis for paper coating.
As usual, Heyne & Penke’s experts have forward-looking already early integrated future technical requirements into production process - for your benefit and the well-being of your customers.
Other raw materials such as foils, colors and adhesives used by us are completely unaffected by the MOSH / MOAH problem due to their chemical composition.
Be assured that Heyne & Penke is always striving to ensure that the packaging material delivered to our customers meets the technical state of the art as well as of course the current legal requirements.
